Cooling Mattresses for Hot Sleepers products

About Cooling Mattresses for Hot Sleepers

What actually makes a mattress sleep cooler

  • Phase-change cover fabrics, which feel cold to the touch and pull heat off the skin as you settle in. This is the difference you notice first in the showroom.
  • Conductive infusions such as copper, graphite or gel beads, which move heat sideways through the foam instead of letting it build up under your body.
  • A pocketed coil support unit, which leaves air space through the middle of the mattress. This is why hybrid mattresses almost always sleep cooler than all-foam builds.
  • Latex, which is naturally more breathable than memory foam and keeps you higher on the surface where air can circulate.

Feel versus temperature is a real trade-off

The deeper a mattress lets you sink, the more of your body is surrounded by insulating material. That is why plush beds tend to sleep warmer than firm ones. If you are a side sleeper who needs contouring and also runs hot, do not give up the pressure relief; get the contour from a hybrid with a cooling cover rather than from a thick block of memory foam. Choosing a medium rather than a soft feel also buys back a noticeable amount of airflow.

Do not overlook what goes on top

A cooling mattress under a thick quilted mattress protector and heavy sateen sheets will still sleep hot. Breathable performance protectors and sheets are an inexpensive fix and often the fastest improvement for someone who otherwise likes their current bed.

Cooling is the one feature that is genuinely hard to judge online, because it is a sensation rather than a spec. Lie on two or three in our Richmond, Katy or Rosenberg showroom and the difference sorts itself out. Financing and local delivery are available on everything we carry.

Questions, answered

What actually makes a mattress sleep cooler?
Three things, in order of impact: airflow through the support layer, the material right under you, and the cover. A pocketed coil base moves far more air than solid foam. Latex and open-cell or gel-infused foams hold less heat than dense memory foam. Phase-change cover fabrics feel cool to the touch on contact, which matters most as you fall asleep.
Do cooling mattresses stay cool all night?
A cooling build reduces how much heat is trapped around you; it is not refrigeration. Expect to notice the difference most at bedtime and during the first part of the night. If you run genuinely hot, pair a breathable mattress with breathable sheets and a protector, since a cheap waterproof protector can undo a cooling mattress on its own.
Is memory foam always hot?
Not any more, but traditional dense memory foam does hold body heat. If you sleep warm and still want that hugging feel, look at a hybrid with gel-infused or open-cell foam over coils, which keeps most of the contouring while letting air move underneath you.
Which cooling mattresses do you carry?
The cooling models on this page come from Helix, Brooklyn Bedding, Tempur-Pedic, Nectar, Leesa and WinkBed. Feel varies a lot between them, so it is worth lying on two or three rather than choosing on the cooling claim alone.
Can I feel the difference in a showroom?
Yes, and it is the one feature genuinely worth testing in person. Cover fabrics feel noticeably different within seconds of contact. All three showrooms are open seven days a week in Richmond, Katy and Rosenberg.
What if it still sleeps too warm at home?
Every mattress comes with our 365-Night Comfort Guarantee. Sleep on it at home for up to a full year, and if you are not satisfied within 365 nights of delivery we exchange it for the right one rather than leaving you stuck with it. It applies whether you buy online or in one of our showrooms.
